Robert Starke 

Rob hails from Montreal, Canada and prior to becoming a lawyer completed a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Legal Studies, whilst playing university ice hockey on scholarship in the United States. This was followed by five years as a professional ice hockey player in North America and Europe. Since 2004, Rob has been a member of the four time Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) champions Newcastle North Stars, and is former captain of the Australian Ice Hockey Team.

Before joining Wilson & Co Lawyers in 2011, Rob was employed by one of the “Big Six” law firms in Sydney, then after relocating to Newcastle he held an in-house Legal role with a large multinational manufacturing company at its corporate head office. Rob also has a keen interest in business and is currently completing his Master of Business Administration to compliment his Legal qualifications.

Rob’s specialty is corporate and commercial law however he has broad legal experience and advises clients in several areas of legal practice including:

Litigation & Disputes – Debt Recovery – Business Law – Contract Law – Franchising – Intellectual Property – Property Transactions – Commercial Leases - Estate Planning – Wills & Estates.

His experience as a Lawyer and professional ice hockey player have taught Rob the importance of strong team dynamics, a dedicated work ethic, communication skills and time management. He is personable, committed and well equipped to provide efficient and effective legal solutions which assist his clients in meeting their objectives and achieving optimal results.

Rob is based in Newcastle and when away from the office he maintains his involvement with the Newcastle ice hockey community, remains fit and active and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
