Starting Out

Wilson & Co. was established in 2005 when company principal, Greg Wilson, struck out on his own having identified a need in the Hunter region for a legal practice with a fresh, enthusiastic approach to client service. Greg was already well established in the legal fraternity having gained broad experience and extensive knowledge across a wide range of jurisdictions in the previous 14 years.

Greg enjoyed a reputation as one of the region’s best known and most highly respected legal practitioners and set about building a practice which would concentrate on customer service whilst maintaining the highest professional standards across a wide range of legal practice and commercial advice.

Greg initially assembled a team of specialists in their fields at new offices in The Junction, an inner-city Newcastle suburb, and later added an office in the New England area at Armidale. Following this sustained period of growth Greg eventually decided he would prefer to devote more of his time to the practice of Law rather than managing a team of Lawyers.

This decision saw him establish his current successful practice as a sole practitioner, working in Newcastle’s CBD.

Our Team

Greg Wilson

A member of the Newcastle legal fraternity since 1991, Greg has broad experience and extensive knowledge across a number of different jurisdictions. He enjoys a reputation as one of the region’s best known and highly respected legal practitioners, with his practise including all types of litigation and transactional services.

An active community member for all of his life, Greg has extended his love of sport from the playing field in his earlier days to the administration area in a range of sports.

He has held administrative roles, including positions on the Board, as honorary solicitor and as a member of various judiciaries, with several sporting and community organisations including Newcastle & Hunter Rugby Union and Newcastle Junior Rugby Union, Newcastle District Cricket Association, Newcastle Rugby League and Northern New South Wales Football Federation.

Greg is also a member of various community and professional organisations including The Law Society of NSW, Newcastle Law Society, Newcastle Golf Club, Newcastle Jockey Club, Hawthorne Club (Rugby Union), Beauford Club (Horse racing), de Courcy Club (Cricket) as well as the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Greg was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia in 1994. 

Sonia Bowditch

With over 40 years of experience across a broad range of legal secretarial and administration duties, Sonia Bowditch is Wilson & Co Lawyers’ office manager and administrator, taking responsibility for all day-to-day aspects of the practice.

Sonia began her legal secretarial career in 1980 with a large Newcastle firm, involving a diverse range of clients and legal services.

Sonia and Greg have worked together since 1991, with Sonia joining Greg at Wilson & Co Lawyers in 2006 at The Junction.

Sonia has also been a Justice of the Peace since 2006 and is readily available to assist clients and other members of the community with witnessing legal documents when required.

Wilson & Co Today

The standards on which Wilson & Co were established are still evident today and have seen the firm continue to expand and grow in line with its reputation as a dynamic and “user friendly” legal practice. The firm provides a broad range of legal services to clients throughout NSW.

The reputation as a successful “can do” practice has also allowed Wilson & Co to establish strong working relationships with accountants, real estate agents, liquidators, finance brokers, financial institutions, barristers, other law firms and lawyers, ensuring a more efficient and timely outcome for clients in many cases.

Here at Wilson & Co Lawyers, we utilise the latest methods to communicate with our clients including electronic signing, electronic conveyancing as well as offering Zoom, Teams and Skype meetings for your safety and convenience.
